Details

Following on from Jazz Method For Saxophone (Tenor), this book will help intermediate players take their jazz skills to a new level. 22 pieces are presented in a variety of jazz styles including blues, swing, New Orleans, rag, jazz waltz, bossa nova, samba, salsa, calypso, reggae and South African.

Guidance is given on improvising over fundamental sequences such as the II-V-I progression. Idiomatic effects are explained including vibrato, subtone, glissandi, ghosted notes and note bending, and there is a chapter on overtones. Other topics include whole tone and diminished scales; typical bebop licks; patterns in all 12 keys; chromatic passing tones; false fingerings and trills. The CD features Phil Lee (g), Jeff Clyne (b) and Paul Clarvis (d) providing backing on the CD for all the pieces and exercises in the book. Text in English, French and German.
