Working with eminent African percussion masters, Serge Blanc has created the first comprehensive Djembe instruction book ever published. Sample exercises for two djembes and one dunun get people playing together from the very start. The 81-page book features 22 great standards of traditional djembe music, including Jansa, Sofa, Didadi, Soko, Sanja and more. It includes calls, breaks and stops and a description of the function of each rhythm in traditional African culture, plus many great photos. The CD follows the book, from basic sound to complex unison solos. One by one each voice is clearly heard as it enters, making the written notation come to life.
